Philippines buying TH-73A training helicopters from AgustaWestland Philadelphia
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress Tuesday that the Philippines intend to purchase an unspecified number of TH-73A “Thrasher” training helicopters from AgustaWestland Philadelphia.
An aircraft simulator, spare engines, and various related equipment are also part of the sale, which is estimated to be worth $120 million in total.
AgustaWestland Philadelphia is named principal contractor on the sale. AgustaWestland Philadelphia is a subsidiary of Italy’s Leonardo S.p.a. It is a sister company of one of the newest publicly-traded U.S. defense contractors, $10 billion Leonardo DRS (Nasdaq: DRS) — also a subsidiary of Leonardo S.p.a.
