Romania requests sale of 32 F-35 stealth fighters from Lockheed

LMT and RTX will split $7.2 billion in sales if the deal goes through.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress Friday that Romania intends to purchase 32 F-35A Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter Conventional Take Off and Landing (CTOL) aircraft. Power will come from 33 Pratt & Whitney F135-PW-100 engines (32 installed, 1 spare).

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) is named principal contractor on the sale, which will be worth $7.2 billion if approved by Congress.

Pratt & Whitney, however, is owned by RTX Corporation (NYSE: RTX), and will benefit handsomely from this sales as well.
